Ayah 1
By the Mount,
English - By the mount .
Ayah 2
And by (the) Book written
English - And [by] a Book inscribed .
Ayah 3
In parchment unrolled,
English - In parchment spread open .
Ayah 4
By the House frequented
English - And [by] the frequented House .
Ayah 5
By the roof raised high
English - And [by] the heaven raised high .
Ayah 6
By the sea filled
English - And [by] the sea filled [with fire], .
Ayah 7
Indeed, (the) punishment (of) your Lord (will) surely occur.
English - Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. .
Ayah 8
Not for it any preventer.
English - Of it there is no preventer. .
Ayah 9
(On the) Day will shake the heaven (with violent) shake
English - On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion .
Ayah 10
And will move away, the mountains (with an awful) movement
English - And the mountains will pass on, departing – .
Ayah 11
Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,
English - Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, .
Ayah 12
Who [they] in (vain) discourse are playing.
English - Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. .
Ayah 13
(The) Day they will be thrust (in)to (the) Fire (of) Hell (with) a thrust.
English - The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], .
Ayah 14
"This (is) the Fire which you used to [of it] deny.
English - "This is the Fire which you used to deny. .
Ayah 15
Then is this magic, Then is this magic, or you (do) not see?
English - Then is this magic, or do you not see? .
Ayah 16
Burn in it then be patient or (do) not be patient, (it is) same for you. Only you are being recompensed (for) what you used to do."
English - [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient – it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." .
Ayah 17
Indeed, the righteous (will be) in Gardens and pleasure,
English - Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, .
Ayah 18
Enjoying in what has given them their Lord, and protected them their Lord (from the) punishment (of) Hellfire.
English - Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. .
Ayah 19
"Eat and drink (in) satisfaction for what you used to do."
English - [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." .
Ayah 20
Reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair ones (with) large eyes.
English - They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. .
Ayah 21
And those who believed and followed them their offspring in faith, We will join with them their offspring and not We will deprive them of their deeds (in) any thing. Every person for what he earned (is) pledged.
English - And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith – We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. .
Ayah 22
And We will provide them with fruit and meat from what they desire.
English - And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. .
Ayah 23
They will pass to one another therein a cup, no ill speech therein and no sin.
English - They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. .
Ayah 24
And will circulate among them boys for them, as if they (were) pearls well-protected.
English - There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. .
Ayah 25
And will approach some of them to others inquiring.
English - And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. .
Ayah 26
They will say, "Indeed, we [we] were before among our families fearful,
English - They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. .
Ayah 27
But Allah conferred favor But Allah conferred favor upon us, and protected us (from the) punishment (of) the Scorching Fire.
English - So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. .
Ayah 28
Indeed, we [we] used to before before call Him. Indeed, He [He] (is) the Most Kind, the Most Merciful."
English - Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." .
Ayah 29
Therefore remind, for not you (are) by (the) grace (of) your Lord a soothsayer, and not a madman.
English - So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. .
Ayah 30
Or (do) they say, "A poet, we wait for him a misfortune of time." a misfortune of time."
English - Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?" .
Ayah 31
Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among those who wait."
English - Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters." .
Ayah 32
Or command them their minds this, or they (are) a people transgressing?
English - Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people? .
Ayah 33
Or (do) they say, "He has made it up" Nay, not they believe.
English - Or do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe. .
Ayah 34
Then let them bring a statement like it, if they are truthful.
English - Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. .
Ayah 35
Or they were created of nothing, nothing, or (are) they the creators?
English - Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? .
Ayah 36
Or (did) they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, not they are certain.
English - Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. .
Ayah 37
Or with them (are the) treasures (of) your Lord or (are) they the controllers?
English - Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]? .
Ayah 38
Or for them (is) a stairway, they listen therewith? Then let bring, their listener, an authority clear.
English - Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. .
Ayah 39
Or for Him (are) daughters while for you (are) sons?
English - Or has He daughters while you have sons? .
Ayah 40
Or (do) you ask from them a payment, so they from a debt (are) overburdened.
English - Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? .
Ayah 41
Or with them (is) the unseen, so they write (it) down?
English - Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down? .
Ayah 42
Or (do) they intend a plot? But those who disbelieve, themselves (are in) the plot.
English - Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve – they are the object of a plan. .
Ayah 43
Or for them a god other than Allah? Glory be (to) Allah from what they associate (with Him).
English - Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. .
Ayah 44
And if they were to see a portion from the sky falling, they will say, "Clouds heaped up."
English - And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up." .
Ayah 45
So leave them until they meet their Day which in it they will faint.
English - So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible – .
Ayah 46
(The) Day not will avail to them their plotting (in) anything, and not they will be helped.
English - The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped. .
Ayah 47
And indeed, for those who do wrong, (is) a punishment before that, but most of them (do) not know.
English - And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. .
Ayah 48
So be patient, for (the) Command (of) your Lord, for indeed, you (are) in Our Eyes. And glorify (the) praise (of) your Lord when you arise,
English - And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise. .
Ayah 49
And of the night, glorify Him, and after the stars.
English - And in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars. .
