Ayah 1
Has come near the Hour and has split the moon.
English - The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. .
Ayah 2
And if they see a Sign, they turn away and say, "Magic continuing."
English - And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." .
Ayah 3
And they denied and followed their desires, but (for) every matter (will be a) settlement.
English - And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. .
Ayah 4
And certainly has come to them of the information wherein wherein (is) deterrence,
English - And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence – .
Ayah 5
Wisdom perfect, but not will avail the warnings.
English - Extensive wisdom – but warning does not avail [them]. .
Ayah 6
So turn away from them. (The) Day, will call the caller to a thing terrible,
English - So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, .
Ayah 7
(Will be) humbled their eyes they will come forth from the graves as if they (were) locusts spreading,
English - Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, .
Ayah 8
Racing ahead towards the caller. Will say the disbelievers, "This (is) a Day difficult."
English - Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." .
Ayah 9
Denied before them (the) people (of) Nuh, and they denied Our slave and said, "A madman," and he was repelled.
English - The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. .
Ayah 10
So he called his Lord, "I am one overpowered, so help."
English - So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." .
Ayah 11
So We opened (the) gates (of) heaven with water pouring down
English - Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down .
Ayah 12
And We caused to burst the earth (with) springs, so met the water(s) for a matter already predestined.
English - And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. .
Ayah 13
And We carried him on (ark) made of planks (ark) made of planks and nails,
English - And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, .
Ayah 14
Sailing before Our eyes, a reward for (he) who was denied.
English - Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. .
Ayah 15
And certainly We left it (as) a Sign, so is (there) any who will receive admonition?
English - And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? .
Ayah 16
So how was My punishment and My warnings?
English - And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. .
Ayah 17
And certainly We have made easy the Quran for remembrance, so is (there) any who will receive admonition?
English - And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? .
Ayah 18
Denied Aad; so how was My punishment and My warnings?
English - ‘Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. .
Ayah 19
Indeed, We [We] sent upon them a wind furious on a day (of) misfortune continuous,
English - Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, .
Ayah 20
Plucking out men as if they (were) trunks (of) date-palms uprooted.
English - Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. .
Ayah 21
So how was My punishment and My warnings?
English - And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. .
Ayah 22
And certainly, We have made easy the Quran for remembrance, so is (there) any who will receive admonition?
English - And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? .
Ayah 23
Denied Thamud the warnings,
English - Thamūd denied the warning .
Ayah 24
And said, "Is (it) a human being among us one, (that) we should follow him? Indeed, we then (will be) surely in error and madness.
English - And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. .
Ayah 25
Has been sent the Reminder to him from among us? Nay, he (is) a liar insolent."
English - Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." .
Ayah 26
They will know tomorrow who (is) the liar, the insolent one.
English - They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. .
Ayah 27
Indeed, We (are) sending the she-camel (as) a trial for them, so watch them and be patient.
English - Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. .
Ayah 28
And inform them that the water (is) to be shared between them, each drink attended.
English - And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. .
Ayah 29
But they called their companion and he took and hamstrung.
English - But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. .
Ayah 30
So how was My punishment and My warnings.
English - And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. .
Ayah 31
Indeed, We [We] sent upon them thunderous blast single, and they became like dry twig fragments (used by) a fence builder.
English - Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. .
Ayah 32
And certainly We have made easy the Quran for remembrance, so is (there) any who will receive admonition?
English - And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? .
Ayah 33
Denied (the) people (of) Lut, the warnings.
English - The people of Lot denied the warning. .
Ayah 34
Indeed, We [We] sent upon them a storm of stones, except (the) family (of) Lut, We saved them by dawn
English - Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot – We saved them before dawn .
Ayah 35
(As) a favor from Us. Thus We reward (one) who (is) grateful.
English - As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. .
Ayah 36
And certainly he warned them (of) Our seizure, but they disputed the warnings.
English - And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. .
Ayah 37
And certainly they demanded from him they demanded from him his guests, so We blinded their eyes. "So taste My punishment and My warnings."
English - And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." .
Ayah 38
And certainly seized them in the morning early a punishment abiding.
English - And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment. .
Ayah 39
So taste My punishment and My warnings.
English - So taste My punishment and warning. .
Ayah 40
And certainly We have made easy the Quran for remembrance, so is (there) any who will receive admonition?
English - And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? .
Ayah 41
And certainly came (to the) people (of) Firaun warnings.
English - And there certainly came to the people of Pharaoh warning. .
Ayah 42
They denied Our Signs, all of them, so We seized them (with) a seizure (of) All-Mighty, (the) Powerful One.
English - They denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability. .
Ayah 43
Are your disbelievers, better than those, or for you (is) an exemption in the Scriptures?
English - Are your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or have you immunity in the scripture? .
Ayah 44
Or (do) they say, "We (are) an assembly helping (each other)?"
English - Or do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]"? .
Ayah 45
Soon will be defeated (their) assembly, and they will turn (their) backs.
English - [Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat]. .
Ayah 46
Nay, the Hour (is) their promised time, and the Hour (will be) more grievous and more bitter.
English - But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter. .
Ayah 47
Indeed, the criminals (are) in an error and madness.
English - Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness. .
Ayah 48
(The) Day they will be dragged into the Fire on their faces, "Taste (the) touch (of) Hell."
English - The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar." .
Ayah 49
Indeed, [We] every thing We created it by a measure.
English - Indeed, all things We created with predestination. .
Ayah 50
And not (is) Our Command but one, like the twinkling (of) the eye.
English - And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye. .
Ayah 51
And certainly We destroyed your kinds, so is (there) any who will receive admonition?
English - And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember? .
Ayah 52
And every thing they did (is) in the written records.
English - And everything they did is in written records. .
Ayah 53
And every small and big (is) written down.
English - And every small and great [thing] is inscribed. .
Ayah 54
Indeed, the righteous (will be) in gardens and river,
English - Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers, .
Ayah 55
In a seat (of) honor near a King Most Powerful.
English - In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability. .
