Ayah 1
By those who extract violently,
English - By those [angels] who extract with violence .
Ayah 2
And those who draw out gently,
English - And [by] those who remove with ease .
Ayah 3
And those who glide swimming,
English - And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming .
Ayah 4
And those who race each other (in) a race,
English - And those who race each other in a race .
Ayah 5
And those who arrange (the) matter.
English - And those who arrange [each] matter, .
Ayah 6
(The) Day will quake the quaking one,
English - On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], .
Ayah 7
Follows it the subsequent,
English - There will follow it the subsequent [one]. .
Ayah 8
Hearts, that Day, will palpitate,
English - Hearts, that Day, will tremble, .
Ayah 9
Their eyes humbled.
English - Their eyes humbled. .
Ayah 10
They say, "Will we indeed be returned to the former state?
English - They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? .
Ayah 11
What! When we are bones decayed?"
English - Even if we should be decayed bones? .
Ayah 12
They say, "This then (would be) a return losing."
English - They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." .
Ayah 13
Then only it (will be) a shout single,
English - Indeed, it will be but one shout, .
Ayah 14
And behold! They (will be) awakened.
English - And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. .
Ayah 15
Has (there) come to you (the) story (of) Musa?
English - Has there reached you the story of Moses? – .
Ayah 16
When called him his Lord in the valley the sacred (of) Tuwa,
English - When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Ţuwa, .
Ayah 17
"Go to Firaun. Indeed, he (has) transgressed.
English - "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. .
Ayah 18
And say, "Would [for] you [to] [that] purify yourself?
English - And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself .
Ayah 19
And I will guide you to your Lord so you would fear."
English - And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" .
Ayah 20
Then he showed him the sign the great.
English - And he showed him the greatest sign, .
Ayah 21
But he denied and disobeyed.
English - But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. .
Ayah 22
Then he turned his back, striving,
English - Then he turned his back, striving. .
Ayah 23
And he gathered and called out,
English - And he gathered [his people] and called out .
Ayah 24
Then he said, "I am your Lord, the Most High."
English - And said, "I am your most exalted lord." .
Ayah 25
So seized him Allah (with) an exemplary punishment (for) the last and the first.
English - So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. .
Ayah 26
Indeed, in that surely (is) a lesson for whoever fears.
English - Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. .
Ayah 27
Are you a more difficult creation or the heaven. He constructed it?
English - Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? Allah constructed it. .
Ayah 28
He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.
English - He raised its ceiling and proportioned it. .
Ayah 29
And He darkened its night and brought out its brightness.
English - And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness. .
Ayah 30
And the earth after that He spread it.
English - And after that He spread the earth. .
Ayah 31
He brought forth from it, its water and its pasture,
English - He extracted from it its water and its pasture, .
Ayah 32
And the mountains, He made them firm,
English - And the mountains He set firmly .
Ayah 33
(As) a provision for you and for your cattle.
English - As provision for you and your grazing livestock. .
Ayah 34
But when comes the Overwhelming Calamity the great,
English - But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity – .
Ayah 35
(The) Day will remember man what he strove (for),
English - The Day when man will remember that for which he strove, .
Ayah 36
And will be made manifest the Hellfire to (him) who sees,
English - And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see – .
Ayah 37
Then as for (him) who transgressed,
English - So as for he who transgressed .
Ayah 38
And preferred the life (of) the world,
English - And preferred the life of the world, .
Ayah 39
Then indeed, the Hellfire, it (is) the refuge.
English - Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge. .
Ayah 40
But as for (him) who feared standing (before) his Lord, and restrained his soul from the vain desires,
English - But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination, .
Ayah 41
Then indeed, Paradise - it (is) the refuge.
English - Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge. .
Ayah 42
They ask you about the Hour, when (is) its arrival?
English - They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival? .
Ayah 43
In what (are) you [of] (to) mention it?
English - In what [position] are you that you should mention it? .
Ayah 44
To your Lord (is) its finality.
English - To your Lord is its finality. .
Ayah 45
Only you (are) a warner (for him) who fears it.
English - You are only a warner for those who fear it. .
Ayah 46
As though they, (the) Day they see it, not they had remained except an evening or a morning thereof.
English - It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof. .
