Ayah 1
When the sun is wrapped up,
English - When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] .
Ayah 2
And when the stars fall, losing their luster
English - And when the stars fall, dispersing, .
Ayah 3
And when the mountains are moved away,
English - And when the mountains are removed .
Ayah 4
And when the full-term she-camels (are) left untended;
English - And when full-term she-camels are neglected .
Ayah 5
And when the wild beasts are gathered,
English - And when the wild beasts are gathered .
Ayah 6
And when the seas are made to overflow,
English - And when the seas are filled with flame .
Ayah 7
And when the souls are paired,
English - And when the souls are paired .
Ayah 8
And when the female infant buried alive is asked
English - And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked .
Ayah 9
For what sin she was killed.
English - For what sin she was killed .
Ayah 10
And when the pages are laid open,
English - And when the pages are made public .
Ayah 11
And when the sky is stripped away,
English - And when the sky is stripped away .
Ayah 12
And when the Hellfire is set ablaze,
English - And when Hellfire is set ablaze .
Ayah 13
And when Paradise is brought near,
English - And when Paradise is brought near, .
Ayah 14
Will know a soul what it has brought.
English - A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. .
Ayah 15
But nay! I swear by the retreating planets,
English - So I swear by the retreating stars – .
Ayah 16
Those that run (and) disappear,
English - Those that run [their courses] and disappear – .
Ayah 17
And the night when it departs,
English - And by the night as it closes in .
Ayah 18
And the dawn when it breathes
English - And by the dawn when it breathes .
Ayah 19
Indeed, it (is) surely a word (of) a Messenger noble,
English - [That] indeed, the Qur’an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger .
Ayah 20
Possessor of power, with (the) Owner of the Throne secure,
English - [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], .
Ayah 21
One to be obeyed and trustworthy,
English - Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. .
Ayah 22
And not (is) your companion mad.
English - And your companion is not [at all] mad. .
Ayah 23
And certainly he saw him in the horizon the clear.
English - And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. .
Ayah 24
And not he (is) on the unseen a withholder.
English - And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. .
Ayah 25
And not it (is the) word (of) Shaitaan accursed.
English - And the Qur’an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. .
Ayah 26
So where are you going?
English - So where are you going? .
Ayah 27
Not it (is) except a reminder to the worlds,
English - It is not except a reminder to the worlds .
Ayah 28
For whoever wills among you to take a straight way.
English - For whoever wills among you to take a right course. .
Ayah 29
And not you will except that wills Allah, Lord (of) the worlds.
English - And you do not will except that Allah wills – Lord of the worlds. .
