By the dawn,
English - By the dawn .
Ayah 2
And the nights ten.
English - And [by] ten nights .
Ayah 3
And the even and the odd,
English - And [by] the even [number] and the odd .
Ayah 4
And the night when it passes.
English - And [by] the night when it passes, .
Ayah 5
Is in that (not) an oath for those who understand?
English - Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception? .
Ayah 6
Did not you see how dealt your Lord with Aad,
English - Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with ‘Aad – .
Ayah 7
Iram, possessors (of), lofty pillars,
English - [With] Iram – who had lofty pillars, .
Ayah 8
Which not had been created like them in the cities,
English - The likes of whom had never been created in the land? .
Ayah 9
And Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley,
English - And [with] Thamūd, who carved out the rocks in the valley? .
Ayah 10
And Firaun, owner of stakes?
English - And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? – .
Ayah 11
Who transgressed in the lands,
English - [All of] whom oppressed within the lands .
Ayah 12
And (made) much therein corruption.
English - And increased therein the corruption. .
Ayah 13
So poured on them your Lord scourge (of) punishment.
English - So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment. .
Ayah 14
Indeed, your Lord (is) surely Ever Watchful.
English - Indeed, your Lord is in observation. .
Ayah 15
And as for man, when does try him his Lord and is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."
English - And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me." .
Ayah 16
But when does He try him and restricts for him his provision, then he says "My Lord (has) humiliated me."
English - But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me." .
Ayah 17
Nay! But not you honor the orphan,
English - No! But you do not honor the orphan .
Ayah 18
And not you feel the urge to feed the poor.
English - And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. .
Ayah 19
And you consume the inheritance devouring altogether,
English - And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether, .
Ayah 20
And you love wealth (with) love immense.
English - And you love wealth with immense love. .
Ayah 21
Nay! When is leveled the earth, pounded, (and) crushed,
English - No! When the earth has been leveled – pounded and crushed – .
Ayah 22
And comes your Lord and the Angels, rank, (upon) rank,
English - And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank, .
Ayah 23
And is brought, that Day, Hell. That Day will remember man, but how (will be) for him the remembrance?
English - And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell – that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance? .
Ayah 24
He will say, "O I wish! I had sent forth for my life."
English - He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life." .
Ayah 25
So that Day not will punish, (as) His punishment anyone.
English - So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment, .
Ayah 26
And not will bind (as) His binding anyone.
English - And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]. .
Ayah 27
"O soul! who is satisfied,
English - [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul, .
Ayah 28
Return to your Lord well pleased, and pleasing.
English - Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], .
Ayah 29
So enter among My slaves,
English - And enter among My [righteous] servants .
Ayah 30
And enter My Paradise."
English - And enter My Paradise." .
